Civil War Project

My Civil War project was done with Mckenzie and Nathan. My essential question was: What led up to, what happened, and what were the repercussions of the Civil War? This was definitely an interesting project and it had its ups and downs. One of the first things i will remember about this project is the website that we did. Another thing that i will remember is the video we tried to setup for the video(Jing). The last thing that i will remember was the failure in our presentation. It messed up with ooVoo and the internet.

the website was very interesting. We got the idea from Mrs. Amy because she did something with pbworks before. Pbworks was very organized. My group had certain topics and tabs that we had to work on. Since we had to meet certain things inside the standards, we all were assigned things such as consequences or reconstruction. I think it worked out well and we learned a lot about doing wikis and websites.

The Jing attempt was hard because you cannot edit the video. One little messup in the video and you had to redo every single slide. We eventually had a good take after many hours of trying and i thought it was fine. We edited another one after that and i also thought it was fine. Somehow Mckenzie ended up recording the whole thing without me knowing in the end. I do like the concept of Jing though. I will remember it because of the time it took.

The thing i will remember the most is our presentation. i will remember it because the internet was not cooperating with our computers. I do think we should have tested the internet more. I thought our presentation went well without our skit even though Mckenzie started talking before i could say anything the whole presentation.

I feel like i learned a lot about the civil war from this project. I had a good time, there were just some frustrations along the way. The website was my favorite part of the project because i learned how to make new pages. I think next time we need to find a new program. The presentation could also have been more prepared. Those are the things i remember.

  1. Connor, I think your ideas are great. Sometimes the hard stuff and the frustrations teach you the most. I think if you remember that the frustrations are hidden learning experiences, you can adjust to these things in life and have a positive outlook on your learning. I'm looking forward to more great things from you this year. - Randy

  2. Hi Connor,

This is a very thoughtful post. I like how you clearly identified things that you felt were barriers to both the learning and the process.

You did a nice job identifying things that you can work on in the future especially in the area of technology.

One small caution is for you to watch your capitalization as you write. Your writing is very well organized-GREAT JOB!
