Literary Analysis 2

In "the city of thieves" the author shows the reader how awful WW2 was for Russia. Every single day Germans bombard Leningrad with bombs and other weapons. Food is scarce as the citizens are forced to make bread out of items like wood and fake flour. Cannibals can also be found living in some houses. The city is torn apart, every building is roped up, boarded up, and closed down. There are no more cars besides military vehicles roaming the streets looking for people past their curfew. Lev was caught looting a dead German which is illegal. After being taken out of jail with a friend named Koyla that he met, they were lucky enough to go on a task to find eggs for the chief. David shows the reader the pain of Russia and the feelings of the people in the middle of WW2.
